OUR HANDCRAFTED RAINPILLARS

Atelier Mickaël Amant’s handcrafted rain pillars are designed with precision and passion to create a soft, steady and crystalline flow of sound inspired by natural rainfall.

Handmade in France, each instrument builds on the principle of the traditional rainstick while adapting it for a longer, more immersive listening experience. Careful attention to materials, acoustics and finishes gives every piece its own distinctive character, making it particularly suited to relaxation, meditation, yoga and sound-based wellness practices. Both an acoustic instrument, a handcrafted creation and a design object, the rain pillar fits naturally into a hotel, home, workplace or wellness space.

Handcrafted rain pillar: the sound of rain for several minutes

A
rain pillar is a sound instrument designed to produce a gentle, steady flow reminiscent of natural rainfall. Unlike a traditional rainstick, which must be held and turned over repeatedly, it can be placed in position and continue playing for several minutes without constant handling.

Also known as a rain column or long-duration rainstick, it creates a soft, enveloping sound. It can accompany relaxation, meditation, yoga, sound therapy or music therapy sessions. A rain pillar can also bring the sound of rainfall into a home, wellness space or reception area.

Which rain pillar should you choose?

Atelier Mickaël Amant offers several sizes, from compact rain pillars to large sound columns. With playing times of 5, 8, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, you can choose a model according to the available space, the desired listening time and how you intend to use it.

Compact models fit easily into the home. They are well suited to shorter listening periods, quiet moments and individual practices.

Medium-sized rain pillars produce a more expansive sound. They are particularly suitable for relaxation, meditation, massage and other sound-based practices.

Larger rain columns provide a longer listening experience and are suited to more spacious settings. Their dimensions also give them a stronger visual presence within the room.

Each product page provides the rain pillar’s dimensions, playing time and recommended uses, helping you choose the model best suited to your practice and your space.

Rain pillars handcrafted in France

Every rain pillar by Atelier Mickaël Amant is handcrafted in France, in our workshop in Montpellier.

The sound is shaped by several elements: the form of the instrument, the path followed by the seeds, the materials used and the way they are assembled. Their precise balance creates a smooth, steady flow that remains pleasant to listen to throughout the playing time.

The choice of materials and the care given to each finish influence both the acoustic qualities and the appearance of every rain column. The rain pillar is designed as a sound instrument, while its vertical silhouette and carefully worked wood allow it to fit naturally into a home, treatment room, studio, spa or professional setting.

Our handcrafted production process allows us to offer a range of sizes and finishes while giving the same attention to the sound, the feel of the materials and the way the instrument occupies its surroundings.

How do you use a rain pillar?

A rain pillar can accompany meditation, relaxation, yoga, sound therapy or music therapy sessions. Its flowing sound can also mark a transition during the day, provide a gentle background for reading or simply offer a few minutes of quiet listening.

In professional settings, a rain column can be installed in a spa, wellness centre, treatment room, hotel, reception area or sensory design project.

At home, it recreates the steady sound of rainfall without requiring the instrument to be turned over continuously. Once set in motion, it can accompany a moment of rest, reflection or calm.

Its vertical form and the natural presence of the wood also give it a distinctive visual character. The rain pillar is at once a sound instrument, a handcrafted piece and a decorative object.
