A Rain Pillar should not be chosen by size alone. Sound duration, acoustic presence, the space in which it will be used and the number of listeners all matter.

Our collection includes five main models, offering 5 to 60 minutes of continuous rain sound. They share the same principle, but they do not create exactly the same listening experience.

A compact model can naturally accompany a moment of relaxation or an individual treatment. A larger model creates a fuller, longer-lasting rain sound, better suited to sound therapy sessions, small groups or larger spaces.

This guide will help you compare the models and choose the instrument that best suits your use.

The 5-minute model: intimate listening and easy everyday use

The 5-minute Rain Pillar is the most compact model in the collection. At 48 cm tall, with a soft sound, it is particularly well suited to quiet environments.

It works naturally for relaxation, massage, individual meditation, moments of calm and sensory exploration with children.

Its duration creates a genuine sound pause without making the sequence too long. It is easy to handle and fits naturally into a bedroom, treatment room or small practice space.

Choose this model if:

  • you want an instrument that is easy to handle;
  • you mainly practise alone or with one other person;
  • your environment is quiet;
  • you are looking for a short, discreet rain sound.

The 8-minute model: a balance between compact size and longer duration

At 58 cm, the 8-minute Rain Pillar remains relatively compact while offering a longer listening experience.

It is a good balance for people who find the 5-minute model a little short but do not need the stronger presence of the 15-minute model.
It can accompany a treatment, a relaxation session, meditation practice or simply create a gentle sound atmosphere in a home or reception space.

Choose this model if:

  • you want a longer listening time without moving to a large model;
  • you are looking for a versatile instrument;
  • you use it alone or with a small group;
  • you also want a sound object that can remain visible in the room.

The 15-minute model: for treatments and small groups

The 15-minute Rain Pillar marks a real step up in scale.
With a minimum sound duration of 15 minutes and a fuller acoustic presence, it is particularly well suited to sound therapy, music therapy, relaxation and sound baths.

It remains easy enough to handle while providing enough acoustic presence for slightly livelier spaces or several listeners.
For many professional uses, it offers a good balance between duration, sound presence and ease of use.

Choose this model if:

  • you practise sound therapy or music therapy;
  • you regularly accompany treatments or relaxation sessions;
  • you work with small groups;
  • you want a rain sound that continues for longer without having to turn the instrument frequently.

The 30-minute model: for a truly immersive sound experience

The 30-minute Rain Pillar is designed for situations where the sound needs to settle into the space for a longer period.

At 88 cm tall, with a sound duration of around half an hour, it creates a much more enveloping atmosphere. It fits naturally into sound baths, yoga sessions, guided meditation, massage and wellness spaces.

Its acoustic presence is stronger than that of the shorter models, making it particularly interesting in a practice room or when working with a group.

Choose this model if:

  • you are looking for a long, continuous rain sound;
  • you organise sound baths or group sessions;
  • you practise yoga, meditation or guided relaxation;
  • your space requires a fuller acoustic presence.

The 60-minute model: a sound column for large spaces

At 108 cm tall and with around one hour of continuous rain sound, the 60-minute Rain Pillar has a very particular place in the collection.

It is primarily intended for professional, collective or scenographic use: sound therapy and music therapy spaces, sound installations, hotels, studios, wellness venues and larger rooms where the sound needs to remain present over time.

Here, the goal is not simply to extend the listening time: the rain sound becomes part of the atmosphere of the place itself.

This model is made to order.

Choose this model if:

  • you work in a large space;
  • you need a very long sound duration;
  • the instrument is intended to contribute to the atmosphere of the room;
  • your use is professional, collective or architectural.

Choose according to how you will use it

For relaxation or individual meditation

The 5-minute model is usually the most natural starting point. It is compact, easy to handle and suited to quiet surroundings.
If you want a longer listening time without moving to a much larger instrument, the 8-minute model is a good alternative.

For massage and wellness treatments

The 5, 8 and 15-minute models can all be suitable.
The choice mainly depends on the length of the treatment and the sound presence you want. The 5-minute model remains discreet, while the 15-minute model allows the sound to settle into the session for longer without frequent handling.

For sound therapy or music therapy

The 15-minute model is particularly well suited to these practices because of its duration and fuller sound.
The 30-minute model becomes especially interesting when you want to build a longer sequence or work with several people.

For sound baths, yoga or groups

The 30-minute model offers a duration and sound presence that are better suited to this type of session.
For a large space or a long sound installation, the 60-minute model goes further still.

For a hotel, spa or reception space

Here, the choice depends as much on the sound as on the visual presence of the object.
The 15, 30 and 60-minute models are particularly suitable when the Rain Pillar is intended to contribute to the identity of a place even when it is not being played.

Is the longest duration always the best choice?

No. A longer model is not automatically the most suitable one.

In a small, silent room, a 5-minute Rain Pillar may be more pleasant than a much larger and more present model. Conversely, in a practice room or with a group, an instrument that is too discreet may lose some of its effect.

The right model is the one that matches the duration of the session, the size of the space and the way you want to use the sound.

Can several Rain Pillars be used together?

Yes. Different models can complement one another.

A practitioner may, for example, use a shorter model to mark a transition in a session and a longer model to create a sustained listening phase.

The collection therefore makes it possible to create different sound moments without asking every instrument to play exactly the same role.

All models are handcrafted in the same workshop

Whatever the size, every Rain Pillar in the collection is handcrafted in our workshop in Montpellier, France.

Their design is based on careful work on proportions, materials and the internal flow in order to create a smooth, steady rain sound.

They are made using wood, cork, silica, seeds and natural fibres, with a finish created using a 100% natural varnish made in our workshop.

The main differences between the models are therefore their size, sound duration and acoustic presence, rather than any difference in the level of craftsmanship.

Still choosing between two models?

If your needs fall between two sizes, start with three simple questions:

  • How long would you like the rain sound to last?
  • Will you use the instrument alone, with a few people or with a group?
  • Is your space very quiet, lively or large?

Once these three points are clear, the choice usually becomes much easier.

You can also contact us if you are hesitating between two models. We can help you choose according to your space and how you intend to use the instrument.
